The first story is called "The Forbidden", and it has been made into a film by Bernard Rose in 1992 under the title "Candyman". The protagonist is a young woman Helen, who is currently writing a dissertation "Grafitti: metropolitan desperation barker and bell signs" which includes her two favorite disciplines: sociology and aesthetics. barker and bell Therefore, she is taken out Spector Street, an almost 4 year-old quarter, already ravaged and destroyed almost beyond recognition. She meets another young woman who reveals that there has been a murder barker and bell in one of the apartments. Helen seeks out the now empty apartment and finds a unique graffiti work by a cruel looking man. Home tells Helen about his discovery, but the boyfriend Trevor rejects the significance of the find, and in frustration turns Helen back. But now she discovers that no one will talk to her about the murder, and when she finally gets more, it gets totally unforeseen consequences. A well-written, creepy and incredibly captivating novel.
In "Madonna" trying Jerry Coloqhoun to sell a disused swimming pool to the local gangster Mr. Garvey, as all others have rejected him. Initially, Mr. Garvey really interested, but then he discovers something strange barker and bell in the dark heat times and decides barker and bell that Jerry is a front for some of his competitors who will see him dead. It's Jerry, however, but also he must go through a landmark change in the disused swimming pool. "Madonna" is a very atmospheric tale, which, however, I must confess that I do not fully understand.
"Babylon children" barker and bell is the most humorous tale in the collection, without being lårklasker-fun. This leads her to a tuefyldt landscape far from everything, where she sees some cloaked people pursue a small figure. She leaves the car to find the fugitives, but soon she lost. The case leads her to a cluster of whitewashed buildings, well hidden by the landscape, and here, she is suddenly a prisoner. But why should not she leave again? And who are the other people, she senses behind office walls? "Babylon barker and bell children" gives a grotesque explanation of the state of the world that I am cynical moments well could believe was true.
The last story in the collection is the title story "The flesh and blood" on the prisoner Cleveland Smith, who one day gets a new sidekick in his cell, the young W
